NEW RANFURLY HOTEL. Construction of the new hotel at llani'urly has reached the stage where the contractors (the Love Construction Co. Ltd.) have almost completed the laying of the concrete tile roofing, and it is anticipated that the building will be ready for occupation in June. The erection of this two-story brick building was begun about two months ago, and in view of the fact that it will be up to date in every detail, including central heating, a good water supply, and electric light throughout, the contractors are executing the work expeditiously. .Messrs Miller and White arc the architects. * * * GREYMOUTH PUBLIC TRUST. Air H. Shirley, of Hokitika, has secured the contract to erect ■ a new Public Trust building in Greymouth. It is understood that this .structure will cost in the vicinity of £IO,OOO. * * * * WINGATUI GRANDSTAND. .Reconstruction of the members' stand at Wingatui is proceeding apace, and the contractors state that they will have no difficulty in having the work completed in time for the Dunedin Jockey Club’s Winter Meeting in June. The contract entailed the rebuilding of the top structure and the extension of the steel roof another ten feet.in to give patrons additional shelter, while another verandah (100 ft by 14ft) at the back of the stand has been built to provide shelter for the public studying the totalisator in wet weather. The seating in the stand has also been re-constructed. This contract was the outcome of the, fierce gale experienced about three years ago.

TEMPLETON MENTAL HOSPITAL. It is unofficially reported that Mr C. S. Lunev, of Christchurch, has secured the contract involving the erection of a fifth villa at the Templeton Mental Hospital (Canterbury). This structure, it is understood, involves an expenditure in the vicinity of £20,000, and it is to the credit of the Abbotsford Tileries that a local firm should have secured the roofing contract, which will amount to something like £6OO. Another villa of the same type is also planned to meet the needs of this institution, and the result of the tendering for its erection should be known shortly.
