INSTRUCTIONS TO ENGINEER
The Works Committee will report to the City Council on Wednesday night that the city engineer has been instructed as follows (lesser works arc not published) : (a) Act with regard to the undernoted matters —viz.:
Effecting repairs to the road at the Second Beach, St. Clair, leading to the quarry. Estimated cost £4O. Constructing a new storm water intake with grating in Seaview terrace, connecting it to the existing intake in Allandale road with necessary mud tanks. Estimated cost £54 10s. (The cost of this work will be charged to the Drainage Board.) Flattening the batter on a property in Seaview terrace to safeguard the frontage from slips. Estimated cost to the council, providing for relief labour, £2O. This work is approved subject to the property owners agreeing to bear the cost and making arrangements for the removal of the surplus soil.
(b) Record the under-noted matters for consideration with future allocations —viz.:
Effecting improvements to Clarewood avenue, off llockside road. Estimated cost to the council, including the erection of a retaining wall on the low side of the sti-eet, trimming up same, metalling where necessary, and providing a rough stone kerb and channel, using relief labour, £6O. Extending the culvert over the Kajkorai Stream at Greenock street. Estimated cost £lO5. , Paving with to'rred macadam the footpath in Helensburgh road from Hood street to the top of the zig-zag. Estimated cost £47.
