RETURNED SOLDIERS' CHOIR
The last concert of the season by tha Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Choir will be held to-night at the Concert Chamber. A special feature will be the reappearance of Wellington’s brilliant soprano, Miss Myra Sawyer. Ihe North Island critics have eulogised Miss Sawyer lor the exceptional brilliance of hep cultured voice, her purity of diction, remarkable range, and captivating stag® presence. Miss Sawyer will sing ‘ Tha Shadow Song ’ (from ‘ Dinorah ’) and ‘The Tryst ’ (by Sibelius). The supporting artists are Miss Nell Warren, who will recite ‘ Thora of Riraol ’ (front the ‘ Saga of King Olaf ’). Master Philip Rylance, the possessor of a voice beautiful in tone, will sing ‘ Break o’ day.’ and Mr Erie Williams, trombona soloist, will play ‘ Crystal Palace ’ (by Ord Hume). The choir soloists are Mr M. O’Sullivan (baritone), who will sing ‘ Lend Me Your Aid,’ and Mr C. R. Williamson (tenor), whose selection is ‘I Did Not Know.’ Included_in the choir selections is ‘ Wiegenlied,’ a charming composition by Charles A* Martin, the well-known Dunedin composer. Other selections are ‘ Salamis " (cantata, solo'ist, Mr L. B. Borrow),- ‘ Annie Laurie,’ ‘ On the March,’ ‘ Tha Anvil Chorus,’ ‘ All in the April Evening,’ quartet and chorus, ‘ Four Jolly Sailormen ’—Messrs L. Coughlan. S. Knight, J. Swan, and R. Duerdon. The concert will close with the stirring finale, ‘ The Legion of the Lost,’ with Mr Richard Duerdon ns soloist. Mr John Leech will be in control, and Mr T. J. Kirk-Burnnand will be at the piano.
