'THE DEVIL IS DRIVING'
HIGHLY DRAMATIC STORY ' The Devil is Driving,’ Paramount’s drama centring around a garage -where a gang of organised car thieves operate will begin to-morrow at the Strand Theatre. Edmund Lowe, Wynne Gibson, James Gleason, Lois Wilson, Dickie Moore, and Allan Dinchart are seen in the leading roles. The garage used by the gang is ostensibly a storage house for automobiles. In reality, however, it conceals an elaborate plant in which stolen cars are rebuilt so that they cannot be recognised, and then resold. It also serves as a “ blind ” for a luxurious night club. Lowe, in the role of an easy-going mechanic, goes about his work at the garage with never a care for the fact that it is not strictly on the “ level.” That is, he does so until the gang seriously injures his young nephew, and then brutally murders the boy’s father when the latter demands an explanation. Then, assisted by_ Miss Gibson, whose good nature previously matched his own, ho goes on a rampage that brings a breathless, dramatic climax to the picture.
