Pagonis and Merle Gibbs, 7.7 ... 4 Highly commended; Gavin Bartlett and Harry Latimer, Joan Walsh and Leonard M'Goldrick, Joyce Workman and Dorothy Bond, Doreen Scott and Mavis White, June Barclay and Mary Luke. Also competed: Winifred Baker and Winifred Allan, Joyce and Evelyn Peters, Margaret Hurndell and D. J. C'rawshaw, Verona Campbell and Ngaia Hanger, Noela Borrow (Mosgiel) and Marjorie Holdaway, Joy Wylie and Lorna Oliver (Mosgiel), Betty M'Lean and Ngaire Rouse, Pat Allen and Molly Ferens, Billy Quigley and June Hudson, Doreen Broad and Maureen Hill. PIANO SOLO, Amateurs, Own Selection. Recalls: Miss Isabel Dawson (Oamaru) _ and Mrs C. H. Westland. Miss Marion Jeffrey was third. Highly commended: Misses Muriel Ironside, Margaret Davidson, Jean M'Corkindale, Messrs V. M‘Govern, and Colin Oliver. Also competed: Misses Rita Lowe, Marion Hayward (Christchurch), I. Gillies, J. Jackson, Zeitha Johnstone, Florence Gillies, Mr S. White, Eveleen M'Evoy, E. M. Thomson, Mr B. Matthews (Mandevillc). Final to-night. TO-NIGHT'S PROGRAMME To-night’s programme should attract another packed house. It commences with spectacular ballets, and these will be followed by the children’s action chorus, ballet dances, Shakespearean recitation, piano solo (own selection), vocal scholarship for gentlemen, character recitals, song for girls, national Scotch or Irish songs, soprano solos, recitation (16-18, own selection), character dances, denn-character dances, and the pronunciation competition, which is expected to provide a most interesting and amusing contest. This will bo the final night of the competition programmes. Demonstration concerts will be held on Friday and Saturday nights, with matinees on Friday and Saturday afternoons, when specially-arranged programmes containing the most attractive items by prize winners will be heard. To-morrow morning the vocal solo (under 18,' own selection) will be hoard in H s Majesty’s Theatre, and at the Burns Hall in the afternoon the vocal solo for ladies (own selection) and vocal solo for gentlemen (own selection) will bo held.
