NO MORE MEASLES?
NEW SERUM DISCOVERED LONDON, December 8. Measles lias been conquered, it is believed here. For more than ten years it has exacted a higher to)! of child life than scarlet fever or diphtheria. Now a new serum has been discovered. It is so certain in its action that the doctors believe that, within a year or two, a case of measles will be a medical curiosity. Two thousand children have been treated with this serum under the supervision of the Public Health Department of the London County Council. It was successful in 85 per cent, of the cases. Dr J. H. Brinckner, the principal medical officer, declared: “The whole problem of measles seems to be solved once we have worked out a few details.” The new serum can be prepared in any well-equipped hospital in any quantity and at any time. Tests have shown that it has no bad after-effects.
