Some 4,000 oysters were consumed the other day at the Colchester oyster feast, at which Prince Arthur of Connaught was the principal guest. There are two things of which Colchester is justifiably proud—her oysters and her roses. Both were much in evidence at the feast in the ancient Moot Hall. Before each of the 400 guests was placed a dish of a dozen oysters. After the feast speeches were made by Prince Arthur of Connaught and other visitors, including Colonel John Buchan. Sir Henry Cnrtis-Bennett, and Gertrude Lady Worthington-Evans. An Edinburgh man paid 10s for a seven-day holiday season railway ticket embracing the Carlisle and Border districts. He has reported to the railway authorities that he travelled 1,709 miles during the week that bis ticket was available. This is more than fourteen miles for a penny.
