RED GROSS SOCIETY
MONTHLY MEETING Tho monthly meeting of the lied Cross Society was presided over by the Rev. V. G. Bryan King. On behalf of Mrs C. B. Smith. Mr Jeffery presented to members a framed photograph of her late husband. —Mr King replied that they all received very gratefully this memorial of their late friend and colleague. It was resolved that a plate be attached and the photograph be placed in a suitable position at the Montccillo Home. Letters were received from superintendents of hospitals thanking the society for gifts to patients and continued interest in their welfare. A letter was received from an cx-patient thanking the committee and staff for care and attention. Great benefit had resulted from the treatment and rest. Two applications for special assistance were received and dealt with. For tho hospital visitors Mrs G. R. Ritchie and Miss Graham submitted satisfactory reports. A good report regarding peace-time work was received from Sister Kirkpatrick. Members of senior classes and junior circles are taking keen interest in their various activities. For practical assistance acknowledgment is made to Sister Nicholson, Mrs Thomas, N.Z.R.N., Mrs Fox, Miss Sew Hoy, and tho St. .John Ambulance Nursing Division. Tho Albany Street Circle has a new patroness in the person of Miss Kennedy. Classes and circles are doing excellent work in preparing articles of clothing, slippers, toys, indoor games, etc., for Christmas cheer or for those children going to the health camp in January. It is very gratifying to note that Mrs Marshall Macdonald has been able to raise sufficient funds to provide for tho main expenses of tho health camp. Tho Matron at Montccillo reported everything at the home going along smoothly. Four patients had been admitted and three discharged. There were now seventeen men in the homo. Tho patients thanked friends for gifts received. It was resolved that a garden fete, as formerly, be hold in December at the home grounds for the benefits of the patients. It was resolved that preparatory arrangements bo left in the hands of Air King, Miss Graham, Mr Smeaton, and the secretary. Mr Charles Smith was appointed a member of the executive. Air King referred to the fact that Messrs Thomsons Ltd. had kept the patients supplied with mineral waters since tho establishment of the home. This was a splendid record, —lt was resolved that a special letter of thanks be sent to tho firm.
