Y.M.C.A. NOTES

THE RECENT APPEAL f Contributed. ] Reviewing the Is drive just concluded, thanks arc duo to the public for their generous and sympathetic support. The Y'.M.C.A. has not hitherto approached citizens in their homes, and could only gauge public sympathy by tbc support offered by commercial and industrial firms in tbc city. It has therefore been a most encouraging factor —more important because of the moral aspect than the financial side to know that in the homes of Dunedin the association and its work is looked upon with such deep regard. The response of citizens has boon an incentive to the association to do its utmost to bo worthy of the confidence reposed in it. Where larger amounts are not now so easily obtained owing to conditions prevailing it was felt that a shilling appeal would interest all those who knew the association work and what it stands for. The result has been a splendid one, and though the full objective has not been realised yet the promises yet to come in privately make the 10,000 s within sight. The thoughts of all healthy fun-lov-ing boys are now turning to camp Tahora, at Wliaro Flat. Here, under expert supervision, the Y.M.L’.A. conducts a camp for boys where, under wise leadership and under God’s clear skies, the clean and healthy life of camp is conducted with a definite end in view, the formation of sound, sane character. Leaders of youth agree that camp life for boys under definite Christian influence is the greatest factor in the moulding of character. This year five huts have been presented, so that the boys will be under cover in all weathers, [’reparations are now well in hand for a liapnv and successful camp.
