GOOD TEMPLARY
Tho meeting of the Rescue Lodge, No. 105, was held on Tuesday evening in the Oddfellows’ Hall, King Edward street, when Bro. J. Hilton, P.C.T., presided. Quarterly reports were submitted by the Finance Committee, secretary, superintendent of the juvenile temples, and the Syllabus Committee, all of which showed the various departments to be working satisfactorily. The election of officers for the new term resulted:—Chief Templar, Bro. E. J. lies; Vice-templar, Sister E. Duncan; secretary, Bro. W. A, lies; assistant secretary. Sister Miss Mercer; financial secretary, Sister M. Pauli; treasurer, Sister Mrs lies; chaplain, Bro. T. H. Dalton; marshal, Sister M. Dougal; deputy-marshal, Sister P. llackley; Past' Chief Templar, Bro. J. Hilton. The officers were installed by the lodge deputy, assisted .by Bro. W. Dickinson and Sister Mrs Giles as installing marshals. Visitors were present from tho Hope of Caversham Lodge, No. 128. The fortnightly meeting of the Pride of Waitati Lodge, No. 52, was held in the Templar Hall, Sister Wilkinson, C.T., presiding. The election of officers resulted:—C.T., Sister Mrs Wilkinson; V.T., Sister Don; secretary, Sister M. Beasley; treasurer, Sister Johnston; marshal, Bro. W. Powell; D.M., Bro. Hunt; guard, Bro. I. Harris; sentinel, Bro P. Powell; P.0.T., Bro. J. Robertson. The L.D., Bro. J. Wilkinson, installed the officers, and the S..J.W. reported progress in the juvenile department. The programme arranged, “ Sing, Say, or Threepence Pay,” was carried out.
A most enjovablo concert programme n-as rendered at Port Chalmers on Friday evening by members and friends ot the Star of Hope Juvenile Temple from Waitati. The hall was well Idled and every item received hearty applause. The programme opened with the chorus “ How do you do, Port Chalmers, how do you do?” after which a company song entitled ‘ Rally Round the Standard ’ was well rendered by the juveniles. Annie and Mavis O’Fee then gave a duet, followed by a fine exhibition of club swinging by Sister Adamson. The song by the flower girls was a good effort, and much amusement was caused by the item rendered by the “ backward young ladies,” which had to be repeated. Sister Angelo contributed a pianoforte selection, and the juveniles a company song, 1 Grandfather’s Clock.’ Following this Sisters Angolo, Adamson, and Munro staged a very amusing “ play without words. The ‘ Canoe Song ’ rendered by a company of girls was quite a spectaculai item, and the superintendent, Sister Wilkinson, contributed a medley ot Scotch songs accompanied by the accordian. Two more company songs, The Toymaker’s Dream’ and ‘tramp. Tramp,’ were nicely rendered, air ana Mrs Hosking contributed a duet, and Sister Adamson two fancy dances. Bro. T. H. Dalton, P.G.C.T., delivered a short address, and before returning home the visitors from Waitati were entertained at supper by members ot the All Nations Lodge. The Hope of Caversham Radge hold its weekly session in Baxter Hall. Sister Giles presided over a fair attenuance of members. A brother ot the H.M.S. Dunedin, who spoke on the various lodges he had visited, was made welcome. The election of officers R* l the ensuing quarter resulted: C.i., Bro. Sequc; V.T. Sister Wilson; secretary, Bro. Giles; assistant secretary, Sister Riley; chaplain, Sister Blythe; marshal, Bro. Stanley; D. marshal, Sister Stcednmn; financial secretary, Sister Leishmann; treasurer, Bro. Hilton; guard, Bro. Dick; sentinel, Bro. Churchill; organist, Sister Steedman. A well-attended meeting of the Radiant Morn Temple was hold in the Sunday school hall, Mornington, Bio. W. G. lies being in charge. Chief Templar Sister Lily Sutherland conducted the business. Bro. Rae entertained the members with an address on ‘ Re.minisciencea of Hallowe’en.’ Reports were received from the temple s Saturday afternoon’s sporting brandies. The programme for the evening was in the hands of the new officers, Sister Lily Sutherland taking charge. Items were given by Bro. R. Rae, Bro. H. White, Sisters Richards, Tait, Freeman, Sutherland, Bro. L. Munro, Sister D. Freeman, Richards, and E. Freeman, Sister Williamson, Sister Lily Sutherland, and Bro. Colin Andrews. The weekly meeting of the Star of tho South juvenile Temple was held in tho Oddfellows’ Hall, Kensington. Bro. G. Hilton was in charge. Sister R. Caldwell, chief templar, presided over a large attendance. Two candidates were initiated. The election of officers for the new quarter resulted : Chief Templar, Bro. Sam Smith; YiccTemplar, Sister C. Jacobs; secretary, Bro. E. Poulter; assistant scccietary, Peggy Brendo; chaplain. Sister Doreen Connor; marshal, Bro. Wilton; deputymarshal, Sister Turnbull: secretary, Sister ■ Anderson ; guard, Bro. Dowell; sentinel. Sister Edna Poulter; P.C.T., Sister Caldwell. The officers were duly installed by the superintendent, assisted by Bros. Dalton and W. A. Ties. The weekly meeting of the Silver Star Temple was held in the Bijou Hall, when Bro. H. Stephenson, C.T., 1 presided over a large attendance of members. Sister Rnyncr, S.J.W., was in charge. Bro. Paco, G.S.J.W., sent greetings from all lodges and temples in Auckland. Bro. South, A.S.J.W.. reported on the united picnic to ho held shortly. Two candidates were initiated, Tho following officers were elected ;—Bro. H. Stephenson, C.T.;
