LIVELY INCIDENTS AT CORK

M COSGRAVE ADDRESSES MEETING ATTEMPTS TO RUSH HALL Pragg Association —By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, November 6. (Received November 7, at 10.5 a.m.) Special precautions were taken to prevent disorder at Air Cosgrave’s meeting at Cork. The police formed a bodyguard as he was entering the hall, hut a woman evaded the cordon and rushed, shaking her fist, at Air Cosgrave and shouting “ Alurderer!” Later a hundred men armed with sticks and stones charged the hall. The police, drawing their batons, countercharged and captured most of the weapons. They arrested two men. Subsequently women attempted to rush the building. Aleanwhile the AVhite Army, protecting the entrances, ejected interrupters. Air Cosgrave declared that Air De Valera’s ridiculous claims had held the country up to derision and had resulted in international dishonour. Air Patrick Hogan (ex-Alinister of Agriculture) declared that Air Do Valera’s demand of £400,000,000 was only justifiable if the Free State Army camped in Trafalgar square or an Irish navy bombarded London Bridge. EARLY ELECTION SUGGESTED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, November 5. The introduction of a Bill to amend the Irish Land Act is interpreted to mean that Air De Valera will shortly appropriate the land annuities to finance agricultural schemes. Air Cosgravo’s motion to grant the farmers a two years’ moratorium in connection with the land annuities may embarrass tho Government, especially as the farmers are urging that if Air De Valera is not paying them to Britain there is no need to pay them to him. The imminence of a Redistribution of Seats Ilill is regarded as a portent of an election in the near future. Four by-elections are pending, and the tipsters say that Air Do Valera will lose three of them.
