WATER POLO
FIRST ROUND COMPLETED Dunedin A (last year’s champion) had too much experience, combination, and fitness for the inexperienced Kiwi 15 team at the Dunedin Club hour on Saturday night, and this match, which completed the first round, was won by the last season’s premiers by the big total of 1C goals to 0. Kiwi 15 held Dunedin fairly well in the second spell, chiefly as the result of very fine saves on the part of the goalkeeper, W. Mason but when Mason went into the backs in the second spell Dunedin was able to add ten more goals, the B team being completely outplayed. Outside of Mason, Duff and Campbell both offered good resistance, but there was a lack of understanding among tho B players, who ,wero playing their first game together. Dunedin A took part in some bright passing, and with players fairly often unmarked opportunities presented themselves for good practice in handling. Byrnes and Kerr made some fine openings for tho front lino, and J. Fleming put up a great performance in scoring eight goals. V. Newnll scored five, and J. Bvrne 3. The teams were — Dunedin A; P. W. Harkess, J. O’Driscoll, D, Newall, B. Kerr, J. 0. Byrnes, V. Nowall, and R. J. Fleming. Kiwi B: W Mason, B. Stuart, J. O. Campbell, 0. Holland, E. C. Isaacs, J. Benfield, and D. Duff. Mr D. C.
