PAYMENTS TO AMERICA INTENTION TO PAY Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, September 9. Reticence is maintained in official circles regarding the Government’s intentions in respect to debt payments which are due to the United States on December 15, but the ‘ Daily Herald ’ says that the Treasury has decided to pay. This decision will not necessitate new taxes in the autumn Budget, but there will be economies. REPAYMENT OF FOREIGN CREDITS. RUGBY, September 9. (Received September 10, at noon.) The Treasury announced that the loan of 250,000,000 francs, which was subscribed one year ago by the French public, has been repaid in accordance with the terms of the original issue. The whole of the foreign credits obtained by the Treasury at the time of the crisis in August and September, 1931, have now been repaid in full on or before the due dates without the right to redraw, either in whole or in part, being retained in any case.
