MEN'S HOCKEY

OTAGO ASSOCIATION A meeting of tho executive_ of the Otago Men’s Hockey Association was held last evening. There were present: Messrs W. M'Queen (chairman), W. Gibson, J. M'Haffie, J. H arns ’ "• Wallace,' V. Brebner, C. Mayston, W. Blackie. E. Pemberton, H. Morrison, B. Morris. ~ , , An application was received from the City Club for permission to play members of the Caversham Presbyterian Club in its senior _ team.—This was granted with the stipulation that not more than four players should be played on any Saturday. It was decided that a deputation consisting of Messrs E. H. Calder ( A. Payton, and J. Harris should wait on the Reserves Committee with regard to the grounds. Authority was given to the secretary to purchase twenty-four hockey sticks for tho High Street School and one set of sticks for the Albany Street School.

Entries were received as follows: — Training College, one first grade and one second grade; University, two first grade and two second grade; City, one first grade; Albany, one first grade and one second grade; Technical Old Boys, one first grade, one second grade, and one third grade; High School Old Boys, ono first grade and two second grade. A deputation was received from Balclutha supporting the application from that district to enter a team in the senior competition.—Members of the deputation said the Balclutha players would travel to Dunedin to play every Saturday during the first round, if the Dunedin teams would each travel once to Balclutha during the second round—After a full discussion, in which pleasure was expressed at Balclutha’s offer, it was decided to accept the entry. It was pointed put that the expense to Dunedin players in visiting Balclutha once in the season would bo very small.—The Clutha team’s application to play in white in the meantime was approved. \ SATURDAY’S MATCHES.
