ELECTRICAL INVENTION

DEVICE SUPPLANTS FUSE PLUG PITTSBURGH, April 2. A substitute for tho common fuse plug, which will make fire from a short circuit virtually impossible, was demonstrated successfully by the engineers who developed it. Tho device is the “ De-ion Circuit Breakers.” Where an electric “load,” greater than that intended for any given circuit is thrown on to electric wires, the device automatically shuts off the current and eliminates the hazard of fire. Engineers of the Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company,, who have spent nine years and £IOO,OOO perfecting it, assert the “ breaker ” is the first really new idea in circuit interference in thirty-seven years. Tho “ breaker ” is described as “ fool proof ” and non-tamperable; it is not possible to “ plug ” it with a copper cm t, hairpins, or other articles conductive of electricity as may bo done with the present style plug.
