BERLIN LEASES EXPIRE BERLIN, April 1. To-day has been moving day in Berlin. An unprecedented number of households are seeking fresh quarters — usually smaller and cheaper. Every available vehicle from pantechnicon _ to handbarrow has been pressed into service, and owners of removal vans < are likely to be kept busy for nearly a month to come. Not only are bad times causing removals. An additional impulse has been the decree formulated in December authorising the termination of house and business leases, irrespective of bow long they had to run. on April 1. The result has been that practically the whole of the rent-paying population has given notice. Although landlords of dwelling houses are not complaining, business and commercial property owners are seriously situaited. The full effects of the measure are not yet apparent.
