GOOD TEMPLARY

Sister D. Al'Farlano C.T., presided at tho weekly meeting of _ tho Star of the South Temple, held in tho Oddfellows’ Hall, Kensington, on Tuesday, when a largo number of members was present. An interesting lecture was delivered by Bro. R. Rae, to whom a hearty vote of thanks was accorded. Superintendent Bro. J. Hilton was in charge. The Sunshine Junior Lodge, No. 4, held its weekly meeting on AVednesday iu tho Sunday School Hall, St. Andrew’s Church, Bridgemau street, Kensington, when there a good attendance of members. Visitors were also present from Star of Freedom and Rescue Lodges. Eight candidates were initiated. The election of officers resulted C.T., Sister J. Cameron; V.T., Bro. J. Bell; secretary, Sister 1). AUFarlane; chaplain, Bro. T. Brooks; F. secretary, Sister 1. Cameron; treasurer, Bro. E. lies; marshal, Sister J. Thinn; guard, Bro. R. Freeman; P.C.T., Sister O. Facoory. The installation was carried out by D.S.JAV. Bro. J. Hilton, ably assisted by Sister R. D. Sell as installing marshal, who also spoke encouraging remarks to the new members. A prize, donated by the D.S.J.W., will be awarded the member bringing forward the largest number of candidates for next quarter. Indications point to a promising future for tho Sunshine Junior Lodge. The weekly meeting of the Rescue Lodge No. 105, was held on Tuesday in tho Oddfellows’ Hall, King Edward street, Kensington, when a good attendance of members and visitors was presided over by Bro. J. Hilton, Chief Templar. Greetings were received from the Hope of Caversham and Star of Freedom Lodges. After the usual business had been dispensed, the quarterly “sacred and temperance” programme was held, and interesting items were submitted as follows: —Sacred solos, Sister R. D. Sell, Bro. J. Hilton; sacred duet, Sisters A. Brooks and Al. M'Farlane; sacred recitations, Sisters Airs Dickinson, AI. Pauli; reading, Bro. AV. A. Res; address, Bro. T. 11. Dalton. Several hymns were sung by those present, and the singing of ‘God Bo With You Till AVe Aleet Again ’ brought the session to a close.

The Silver Star Juvenile Temple, No. 9. met on AVednesday evening under the guidance of Sister Raynor, S.J.AV. C.T. Sister P. Rackly presided over a largo attendance. Visitors were present from the Hope of Dunedin Lodge. Members were reminded of the concert which is to take place in Alay. Bro. South, A.S.J.AA 7 ., gave an address on ‘ Temperance,’ and Bro. Gore gave his usual donation of lollies.

Tho Hope of Dunedin Lodge, No. 100, met on Wednesday evening in tho old St. John Ambulance Rooms, Harrop street. C.T. Bro. E. J. South presided over a fair attendance of members. Visitors wore present from the Rescue Lodge. P.G.C.T. Bro. Dalton was warmly welcomed, and suitably replied, giving a short address on tin? centenary of the beginning of Good Templary in June, 1832, by the seven men of Preston signing the total abstinence pledge. Sister Anthony gave a detailed report on the G.L.P.C., and Sister Wright gave a favourable report on the Silver Star Temple. The item For tho evening was ‘ Temperance Clippings,’ and a number of tho members gave items. Supper was handed round by the sisters. Tho weekly meeting of the Hope of Cavorsham Lodge, No. 128, was held in the Baxter Hall, Marion street, C.T. Sister Mrs Giles presiding over a fair attendance of members. Visitors were present from flic Rescue Lodge, No. 105. After a short recess supper was handed round. The programme for the evening was in the hands of all the members, and an enjoyable evening was spent. There was a largo attendance of members at the weekly meeting of the Badiant Morn Juvenile Temple, No. 21, held in the Mornington Methodist Sunday School Hall, C.T. Bro. Los. Andrews presiding. Sunt. Bro. W. G. lies was in charge._ Bro. Rae, asst, supt., rendered an interesting address to tho members on ‘Temperance.’ The programme for t’evening was ‘Sislors Show What They Can Do.’ The following contributed items:—Sisters Brown, Frazer, and G. Richards (recitations). while a drill dance was performed by eight of the sisters. The brothers accorded the sisters a hearty vote of thanks for their programme.
