BUDGET SURPLUS

(Received April 14, at 10.30 a.m.) It is expected that for the present financial year Australia will have a favourable trade balance of not less than £36,000,000, which is £8,000,000 more than the annual interest commitments of Australia abroad. Statistics show that for the eight months ended February 29 tho exports from the Commonwealth exceeded tho imports by £22,000,000.
