WHAT IS DRUNKENNESS?
BLOOD TEST PROJECTED LONDON, April 2. German policemen may shortly be empowered to take blood tests of motorists after street accidents if drunkenness is suspected (says the Berlin correspondent of the ‘ News-Chronicle ’). The method likely to be adopted is that introduced by Mr Widmarck, a Swedish scientist. By this method a single drop of blood extracted from a motorist after a smash would,* it is claimed, establish definitely whether alcohol had been consumed in the previous twelve hours. Temperance bodies are supporting the proposal, but motorists are hostile.
