COLUMBA COLLEGE
VISIT OF THE MODERATOR This morning the Revi. Adam Begg, Moderator of the Presbyterian ‘Church of New Zealand, accompanied by the Rev. J. J. Cairney, president of the Board of Governors, and Professor J. Gumming, visited Columba College, Mr Cairney introduced Mr Begg to the staff and pupils, after which Mr Begg conducted the morning assembly. Mr Begg, in the course of his address to the pupils, conveyed to them greetings from the General Assembly of the church, saying that it was profoundly interested in their welfare, and that it looked forward with confidence to the influence which they would have when their school days were past. Ho emphasised the opportunities winch Uey had, and hoped that they would taka full advantage of them. Mr Begg went on to speak of the career of Queen Margaret of Scotland, and her connection with the church. He spoke of nee strong influence for good, seen m all matters pertaining to the welfare of the people, and he asked the girls to take such a life as an ideal of what their own might be. . . , . Miss Grace Mackintosh, principal of the college, thanked the moderator lor his visit and his interesting address. At the conclusion of the service the visitors were shown over the house, school, and grounds.
