TO BE EXTRADITED
- FURRIER RETURNED TO SYDNEY LANDING REFUSED AT RARATONG* [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 14. Successful extradition proceedings were taken in the Magistrate’s Court to have Samuel Tobias (thirty-four), a furrier, returned to Sydney to face a charge of theft as a bailee, the article concerned being a fur coat. Tobias denied the theft. His story was that he had been ruined in business as the result of publicity in; a divorce case, and since going out of a 'big business he'had had dealings with Heilman, owner of the coat. With regard to this coat, he had told Heilman that lie had a prospective buyer, and, as he was going away, the money would be useful to him. He asked Heilman to wait two months. The police stated that accused had started for ’Frisco, but was returning after leaving ship at Raratonga on being told he would not be allowed to land. The police indicated that other charges, as far ns they knew, would be preferred at Sylney.
