YESTERDAY’S STOCK SALES

LAMB PRICES SATISFACTORY At the Burnside stock sales yesterday prices for fat sheep over the last three races dropped a little, especially in the light-weight ewes. Wethers, which were in small supply, were keenly competed for, and sold at late rates. A number of trucks of extra choice’ heavy ewes realised up to 14s, and light-weights sold from 7s to 9s. Oid and aged sorts brought between 4s Sri and 6s. Very few extra heavy lambs were penned, the yarding being made up chiefly of light-weights and medium quality. Exporters were bidding up to their limits, and in some cases slightly above. Prime lambs sold from 17s to 20s, and medium-weights from 12s 6d to 16s, There was a decided drop on the fat pigs sale. Baconers wore easier than last week by 10s a head, and porkers were 6s a bead cheaper. Bacon pigs sold from £2 14s to £S Os, while porkers brought from £1 5s to £2, working out at 4fd per lb for baconers and 5d per lb for porkers.
