RIFLE SHOOTING

KAITAHGATA DEFENCE CLUB The Kaitangata Defence Rifle Club fired the final stage of the championship and Centrewood Cup on Saturday, fourteen members being present. The afternoon was dull, visibility being very poor at times, but the average scores were very good. Nine of tho riflemen scored over 90 each, and fourteen averaged 89.5 each. The five top scorers totalled 488, equalling Ihe club record for the five best over tfp-ee ranges. R. Kitto and R. M'Crostie, with 96 each, were top for tho day, being closely followed by W. Crowe, W, Oliver, and J. H. Frazer (95 each) and W. Carson (94). R. M'Crostie and W. Oliver (32 each) were top at 300yds, followed by seven others with 31. At 500yds J, H. Frazer and R. Kitto each scored the possible, 35, W. Crowe being next with 33. R. M'Crostie, with 34, shot brilliantly at 600, the light being very bad at that range. Scores: — " <
