+ SERIOUS DAMAGE CAUSED RAILWAY BRIDGE CARRIED AWAY — i — Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. TOWNSVILLE, January 20. Serious damage has been caused by the floods. A railway bridge ovey the Elliott River was carried downstream, and there are disastrous washaways near Bowen. Several bridges over the Burdekin River are submerged. Eighteen inches of rain fell at Guthalungra, near Townsville, last night. STILL SERIOUS DANGER. BRISBANE, January 21. (Received January 21, at 10.30 a.m.) In the wake of the devastation left by the cyclonic disturbance which is passing south, there is still serious flood danger from several rivers. Anxiety is felt for the small steamer Bopple, which left Townsville on January 14. It should have reached Brisbane on Monday, but it has > not even been sighted yet. There are eleven persons aboard. A man was drowned in the flooded Mulgrave River.
