MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING
CITIZENS' CLUB FORMED
A meeting of miniature .shooting enthusiasts was held in the Octagon Sports Depot op Tuesday evening, and a new miniature rifle club, which has been named “ The Citizens’ Miniature Rifle Club,” was formed. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patrons, His Worship the Mayor and Mr F. G. Duncan; president, Mr J. Ferguson; vice-presi-dents—Messrs F. G. Paape, S. Smith, R. C. M. Grechsladc’, F. G. Olson, H. Webb, and A. Regan; captain, Mr H. Webb; deputy-captain, Mr L. Woodford; committee—Messrs E, Grainger, S. Smith, H. Spinner, A, M'Auslin, and A. S. Cayzer; coaches—Messrs H. Webb, L. Woodford, and G. H. Smith; secretary and treasurer, Mr G. H. Smith; assistant secretary, Mr Johnson; auditors, Messrs G. Pickard and K. Shea; trustees—Messrs J. Ferguson and F. G. Paape: armourers, Messrs F. G. Paape and K. Shea. It was decided that the annual subscription be 10s per annum, less 5s if paid before or on March 31. Considerable discussion took place as to the desirability of forming a ladies’ club in conjunction with the men’s, and it was decided that (he matter be deferred for one month to enable the club to get on its feet before doing anything in that direction. The following made donations to tho club:—Messrs F. G. Paape, G. Pickard. K. Shea. Tho executive lias secured a lease cf part of tho Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s premises in Crawford street, and the fitting up of the range is now being carried out.
The membership at the present time is about fifty., which augurs well for its success.
