PHAR LAP, “THE RED TERROR”

HIS AMAZING DOCILITY Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK, January 19. A message from San Bruno, California, states that Pliar Lap’s attendants say that the horse will probably enter a test race there within the next three weeks at Tanforan, carrying 9st 31b over a mile and a-quarter, which is the Agua Caliente distance. It is expected that Phar Lap’s contestants in the trial will be Mopeca and Plucky Play. Golden Gate newspapers describe Phar Lap as “ the Red Terror of tho Antipodes.” Admiring crowds are going every day to see the horse, who retained his placid temperament throughout the long ocean voyage. Visitors are strangely disappointed with his amazing docility. Mr John Marchbanks’s stables are finely situated on rising ground, and the Australian wonder horse is making himself right at home. His trainer, Woodcock, remains in constant attendance. He said to an interviewer: “ We in Australia do not know just how good Phar Lap is. He has done everything asked of him against tho best competition. I can say without hesitation that he has never been extended. I don’t think the hard dirt tracks here will affect him.”
