Tho Summer Mooting of the Diuicdiu Jockey Club was opened at Wiugatui in fine weather. After the past three days’ heavy rain the course was dead, but an excellent sward of grass made the going much better than expected. The attendance was large. Pharaoh was first away and was closely followed by Evening, Taboo, Wingatui, and Topere. NOTES ON THE EVENTS [By Sr. Cx-Ain.] FIRST BLOOD TO THE SAMSON STABLE. Dumblane (£2sli), Pharaoh (£l9Gi), Topere (£l3ls), Wingatui (£126)), and Taboo (£105) were the best fancied in the Otokia High-weight Handicap. Pharaoh was the first to show out, and led Desert Glow, Taboo, Wingatui, and Topere over the first two furlongs. Then Topere and Desert Glow took charge, and at the far turn wore racing two lengths clear of Dumblane and Pharaoh, with Wingatui and Taboo, who was dropping back, next. Going to the home turn, Wingatui ran up ard joined Topere and Desert Glow as they turned into the straight, Duinblane and Royal Limond next. The latter put in a good run from the distance post, and catching Topere opposite the lawn stand beat him by a long neck. Pharaoh was two lengths away third, just beating Dumblane, with Wingatui and Desert Glow. Evening was a bad last. RIRI AT LAST. Riri (£463) and Trek (£320) carried most of the money in the Trial Stakes, Sun Palace and First Song (each £7l J), My Council (£68.)), and Dressy (£65) being the next best fancied. Riri was placed in the pen, and delayed the start several minutes. Bitractor and My Council were the smartest to jump out, with Kips, Flying Amy, and Trek next. After going a couple of furlongs the latter got badly knocked back. My Council and Dressy led Princess Argosy and Riri across the top, and at the

turn into tho straight My Council, Dressy, and Princess Argosy wore on even terms with the favourite just in behind them. The latter made a forward move at the distance post, and had something in reserve to beat Princess Argosy by three-quarters of a length. Dressy was a long neck away third four lengths in front of Trek. Kips, My Council, and Bitractor were next. AUCKLAND R.G. The weather was fine and there was a large attendance at Ellerslie for the opening day of the Auckland Meeting. The track was fast.
