A clergyman was fond of a particularly hot brand of pickles, and finding difficulty in procuring them at hotels when travelling invariably carried a bottle with him. One day, when dining with his pickles in front of him, a stranger sat down at the same table. Soon he asked the clergyman to pass the pickles. The latter did as he was requested, and in a few seconds noticed the stranger watering at the eyes and gasping for breath.
