MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2. (Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. ’Alexander M'Oulloch. and Forester James Styles, statutory first offenders, were each fined 10s, in default twentyfour hours’ imprisonment. CHARGE OF THEFT. Thomas Farrell, who failed to appear, was charged with the theft of a copper boiler, valued at 10s, the property of the Salvation Army. Detective-sergeant Nuttall said it was alleged that Farrell stole an old copper boiler from a right-of-way at the Salvation depot. He later sold it tor la. / _ On the application of Detective-ser-geant Nuttall, a warrant for Farrell s arrest was issued. DISORDERLY BEHAVIOUR. Francis Patrick Silver pleaded guilty to a charge of behaving in a disorderly manner. ' ~ ~ , Senior-sergeant Cameron said that Silver, who was considerably under the influence of liquor, went to Mr Padman’s shop in Maclaggan street and threatened him.. Mr Padman warded off his blows with » broom. About eleven months ago the defendant visited the shop while Mr Padman was away, and told his daughter that he (the defendant) was going “to do for” Mr' Padman for putting him in gaol. Silver had stolen a pair of boots, and on Mr Padman’s information had been prosecuted. , , Silver said that be bad no recollection of being near the shop. “ Conduct of this nature cannot be tolerated,” said His Worship. Silver was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment. MAINTENANCE. Jonas 1 Hardy, who had allowed a maintenance order’ to get into arrear to the extent of £398 15s, said he had paid nothing under the order since 1925, and he was noiv working two days a week on relief works. The arrears were remitted ,and the order formally reduced to 10s a week.William Frederick Bazley was proceeded against by his wife, who sought a maintenance order in favour of herself and her two children. Defendant gave evidence that, he was on relief works, and was getting 24s a week. Defendant was ordered to pay to his wife the difference in wages he received as a married man and what he would receive as a single man, and an order was made fixing the rate at 13s 3d a week, the order to he suspended in each week in .which the defendant was not working. James Palmer was charged with being in default of a maintenance order, the arrears of which amounted to £ls la on September 28, and was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment, warrant ,to he suspended if he pays £lO on November 9 and a similar amount on December 9. . ■ Edgar James Wilson, charged with disobedience of a maintenance order, the arrears of wheih amounted to £l4 10s bn September 24, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment, warrant to he suspended if he pays £5 by Novem-' her 9 and £5 by November 30. Allan Hiett was proceeded against on a complaint for affiliation and maintenance orders in respect to an illegitimate child of which he was alleged to be the father. -The hearing was resumed this afternoon. AFFILIATION. Further evidence was heard in the case in which Frank Dodds was proceeded against on complaints for affiliation and maintenance orders in respect to an illegitimate child of which he was alleged to be th© father. After Dr Edgar had given evidence the case was further adjourned to Friday afternoon.
