THE BRITISH NAVY
LORO JELLICOE’S MISGIVINGS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, LONDON, April 29. (Received April .30, at 12.45 p.m.) Lord Jellicoe, speaking at the London University, expressed strong misgivings regarding tho present strength of the Navy’s cruisers, destroyers, and submarines. That a desperate position did not' arise in tho submarine warfare in 1917 was entirely due to the Navy having a sufficiency of vessels to support the convoys. If aircraft were going to homb cities in future wars it could be expected that submarines would carry on an unrestricted warfare, despite treaties. It must ho difficult for a Navy seeing itself slowly wiped out of existence to retain its efficiency.
