(Received April 30, at 12.45 p.m.) Heavy casualties are reported as the result of an earthquake in three Soviet districts in Nakhichevan (Transcaucasia). Many villages were wiped out, and more than 100 people were killed and injured. The Gueriussin district in Armenia was also affected, and villages were badly damaged. There were numerous casualties. Medical aid and food are being despatched.
