1 How did tho 11101 get its name? The “11” is a relic of tho war days, when the letter was used as an abbreviation for tbo word “rigid’’ in describing vessels of that kind. The German and American equivalent letters aro_“LZ” and “ ZR,” tho , latter standing for “ Zeppelin Rigid;” The numbers 100 and 101 for tbo two newest airships were chosen as convenient numerical descriptions for an I entirely new department in airship construction.
