FISH SCARCITY.

TO THE EDITOit. Sir,—Would you please try and find out what is the cause of the great scarcity of fish ? Have they deserted the Pacific? Over in the Old Land there is nearly always a plentiful supply at about 3d or 4d per lb. But here there is not as much fish as would feed a cat.—l am, etc.. Observer. [lt is understood that the fishing boats have been unable to visit the fishing grounds because of bad weather, thus accentuating the scarcity of, supplies due to the seasonal holidays.—; Ed. E ‘ ■
