BRILLIANT AND SPECTACULAR
'THE BESEBT SOBS' CAPTIVATES Undoubtedly the most brilliant and spectacular musical comedy staged in Dunedin for many years, ‘The Desert Song ’ again scored a signal success in His Majesty’s Theatre last evening. Apart from the unusual spectacularity of the production, the company is exceptionally strong. The men’s chorus work is of a quality seldom heard in performances of this kind, the melodious score being sung with considerable artistry. ‘ The Desert Song ’ is indeed fortunate in having such fine artists as Miss Romola Hansen and Mr Lance Fairfax in the leading roles. Miss Hansen was an exceedingly graceful and charming heroine, while Mr Fairfax’s performance of an exacting dual role was one of the most striking features of the show. The excellent fooling of Miss Rene© Murphy and Mr Herbert Mundin kept the audience vastly amused,; the many other roles being executed with ability and artistry. The scale on which ‘The Desert Song’ is produced is rather astonishing. The brilliance in production that has distinguished many Williamson shows is most apparent in this case. ‘ The Desert Song ’ will be continued until Saturday evening. There will be a matinee on Saturday afternoon. >
