ROSLYN GIRL GUIDES

CONCERT FOR CAMP FUNDS The concert held in the Moulin Rouge (late iloslyn Theatre) last evening was one of a high order, and was attended by a large audience quick to appreciate and generous in applause. The object of the concert was to raise: funds for the Iloslyn Girl Guides for the Christmas camp to be held at.Outram. The programme was not a lengthy-one,, hut the selected items gave general satisfaction, and an enjoyable evening’s .entertainment was provided-. Perhaps jtlje feature of the concert, was,, a > Maori item —a welcome, a song, and the Girl Guides’ haka—by the Rangers (senior Guides). This was particularly good, considering the members who took part had practised for one week only, with two rehearsals. Their stage appearance was very real, the home-made mats being well designed and tilt} pnis being swung in a proper Native fashion. Following wero the items submitted: —Opening chorus, ‘ Song of tlio Girl Guides.’ the Roslyn Girl Guides; song. ‘ The Cuckoo ’ and ‘ Gather Ye Rbsebuds,’ Miss IL Smith; humorous recitations, ‘ If Life Were a Flay,’ ‘ Dad’s Hath,’ and ‘ Mr 15rown Gets His Hair Cut,’ Miss Audrey Watson; mandolin duets, ‘ Barcarolle’ and ‘ My Old Kentucky Home,’ Miss Edna Johnston and Mr G. Walker; song, ‘ I Hear a Thrush at Eve,’ Mr J. Simpson: ukulele solos, “Ukulele Dick” Konicr; violin solos, selected, Miss J. Holmes; recitation, ‘The Little One,’ Master W. Bunting; song, ‘ House Hunting,’ Mr A. W. Clapp; recitation, ‘The King’s Breakfast.’ Mjss N. Osborn; recitation, selected, Miss Mercia Hardman; song, ‘ Break o’ Day,’ Mrs O. J. Stcnhouse; song, ‘ Spanish Gold,’ the Rev. Mr Smith; Mrs J. Mastorton acted as accompanist.
