Two letters were received regarding the recent act of cruelty to a dog at Mosgiel.—lt was decided to write to tho correspondents .slating that- the case had been brought before i the"court, and the society was disappointed with. Die punishment inflicted, but under flic circumstances it did not think it advisable to take any steps to bare the case reopened. A lady wrote advising the society that, a pack horse at .Miltot’d had been badly attacked by mosquitoes, and had been treated everywhere except the bead. The animal had evidently suffered a good deal, and she would like to see something done. —A copy of this letter would be forwarded to the To nri s t Department.
