The ‘ Daily Express ’ says that the Ministry of Agriculture is preparing a scheme for applying a national mark to British meat. It will consist of special ink, non-poisonous and non-erasible, and it will be applied by means of a rubber roller along the length of the carcass, every joint bearing the imprint. It is expected that it will bo inaugurated shortly at Smithfield. ‘ The * Daily Express • adds that rt will preverit imported frozen chilled meat from being marketed as British. —Australian Press Association.
