Kr John M'Cormack, the famous tenor, was once asked in which place of all others in the world he liked best to sing. “ Berlin,” he replied, “ and after Berlin, Dublin.” Curiously enough, when a similar question was put to Fritz Kreisler, ho gave exactly the same reply. The reason which each of these great artists gave, when further pressed on the point, was that while Berlin and Dublin audiences are extremely critical, they are also more in sympathy with the performer than tiie auoienoes of other capitals. Mrs Poppem: “ What! you’so going to sell ont and marry that ’ard-up lodger of yours P What on earth are you going to live on?” Mrs Flynn: “We’ll be all right. The poor fellow owes me enough to keep ns in comfort for years.”-
