YET ANOTHER
WAGONS DERAILED AT KARTIGI SERVICE HOT AFFECTED Another derailment, fortunately not attended with injury to anyone, occurred about two miles south of Kar- | tigi at 1 p.m. yesterday, when nine i loaded wagons on a mixed goods and ; passenger train running from Dunedin to Oamaru left the line—the third derailment within the space of a month. There were only about twelve passengers on the train at the time, and nobody was hurt. The damage was confined 'to the derailed wagons, which ; were loaded with furniture, timber, sand, and railway tarpaulins for re- ; pairs, and these suffered considerably. ; The majority of the wagons came to ! rest- clear of the main line, and this ; simplified the immediate repairs nc- ; cessary to agreat extent. The through | Christchurch and Invercargill expresses were not running yesterday, and i the service was not affected. i A repair train with a ' crane at- | inched will be despatched to the scene | of the accident to-morrow, and the de- j railed wagons will be loaded up and j brought in for repairs. | Railway officials are completely in | the dark ns to the cause of the derailment, and in all probability an en- \ quiry will be held. * |
