WANTING A MEAL.
Sir, —There used to bo an old song when I was a boy: Too proud to beg, Too honest to steal; I know what is is To be wanting a meal. This is what happened yesterday at a factory not far from your office. After the men had finished their lunch they left crusts lying around on the road, when one of them noticed a young man picking them up and eating them. They were about to take a collection for him, but he had disappeared.—l am, etc., Henry Gore. August 9.
