SCHUBERT COMPETITION
PRIZE WOH BY SWEDE . The winner of the Schubert competition was Kurt Atfcenberg, a Swede, who ■ submitted a ‘Symphony in C Major.’ The award was made on the ground of melodic power, thematic value; and construction. Attenberg, who is conductor of the Stockholm Orchestra, is forty years of age, and has. written .many symphonies. The work will be performed in Stockholm, London, 'and Now- York.
