Jn reply to a signed statement to the American Consul by four men of the ship West Tagus, Captain Wilhamsen, master of tlio vessel, and the chief engineer (Mr Cordall), emphatically denied all the allegations, including complaints in regard to the water supply and the food. They further denied the allegation of objectionable language in threats hy the officers during the voyage from America. An outsider who had meals on the vessel substantiated the statements of the captain and chief engineer. One man, said to be the instigator of the trouble, was signed off on Saturday, and the rest of tbo crew are working quietly to-day
