Representative Miller hotly assailed Rear-Admiral Magruder, and declared that the navy had nurtured him and given him his bread and butter. He stated; “If every naval officer wrote similar articles, God knows, what would happen to discipline.” He asked the admiral how much he received for the article. Rear-Admiral Magruder; “ It’s none of your business.” Mr Miller shouted: “ I will make it my business.” Representative Britten interrupted, and stated that the admiral received 750d01, and that he had a contract for 3,000d0l for three articles.
