'LADY, BE GOOD’

To-morrow morning, at The Bristol Piano Company’s, the box plans will be opened for the eight representations of ‘Lady, Be Good,’ which is to be staged hero at His Majesty’s Theatre by the ‘No, No, Nanette ’ Company on Saturday afternoon and night next and tho following five evenings and on Wednesday afternoon next. The unqualified success, won by Elsie Prince, Jimmy Goddcn, and the other members of the J. 0. Williamson, Ltd., organisation in ‘No, No, Nanette'’ has naturally whetted the appetites of playgoers to witness them in another play, so it is quite likely that there will he a very large demand for seats. ‘ Lady, Be Good, 5 is said to ho a very swift-mov-ing comedy, sparkling all the way ; with humorous musical numbers, brilliant dances, beautiful ensembles, and the comedians have unlimited scope for funmaking. ‘Lady, Bo Good,’’ which proved a record-breaker in New York and Loudon, was purchased by Sir Benjamin and Mr John Fuller because the principal characters were exactly tho type suitable for Elsie prince and Jimmy Goddcn. That their judgment was correct has been proved by the fact that these two brilliant artists have scored their best triumphs as Susie Trevor and Waterson AVatkins. All of the modern stage tendencies are embraced in ‘ Lady, Bo Good,’ one of the dominant features being an unceasing sequence of dancing, both specialty and ballet. In many of the numbers the Charleston movements are introduced with wonderful effect. Nothing, however, contributes more to the entertaining qualities than the comedy, of which there is an abundance. Most of it is centred around tho two principals —Elsie Prince and Jimmy Goddcn—and it is notable for its originality. Embarrassing situations, sayings, and topicalities all fit into the scheme of things with intensely laughable results. Another strong appea I is the musical numbers, among which are several_ outstanding melodies that draw an immediate response. Elsie Prince takes part in many of them, and so do Jimmy Godden and Charlton Merton, under whose direction ‘ Lady, Be Good,’ will be produced. Positively only sis nights can be devoted to ‘ Lady, Be Good,’ but afternoon performances will bo staged on Saturday and Wednesday next, to which children will be admitted at halfprice.
