FIRE THRILL FOR FALSE ALARM. The Birmingham Fixe Brigade, while attending a fire, was alarmed by a scream from a young woman, who cried* “There is a typewriter inside,” Assuming that another woman was trapped .in the building, several firemen dashed through the flames into the building. One fell through a window and was badly out. It was then discovered that the woman’s agonising cry referred to her typing machine, which she wanted rescued.
