DUNEDIN’S GIRLS THE PRETTIEST. The delight felt by Dunedin people as Miss M‘Millaa*S success was expressed this morning by His 'Worship the Mayor (Mr H. L. Tapley, C.M.G., M.P.).* Mr Tapley, seen by a reporter, said; “ I am sure that the people of Dunedin will be proud to feel that the Dunedin candidate for the ‘ Miss New Zealand * title (Miss Thelma. MMillan) has been awarded the first prize in the beauty contest against oilier competitors through- , out the dominion, and on behalf of the citizens of Dunedin I have to congratulate Miss M'Millan on her success. It is generally conceded that the Dunediri girls yield to no others in the land as to their beauty, and 1 Miss Otago’s ’ success ig a practical manifestation of the attribute of Dunedin’s girlhood. I am sure that I am echoing the feelings of Misa •M'Millan s many Dunediri admirers in wishing her the best of good fortune in her future, and we trust that her pathway through life will be full of successes, good health, and good fortune.” The Mayor despatched the following telegram to “ Mies New Zealand”: —‘‘ On behalf of your fellow-citizens I most heartily congratulate you upon your election as ‘Miss New Zealand.’ We are proud of your attainment of this covoted honor, and wish you all success and good tidings in you* future life.”. i
