BURIED IN ROSE GARDEN
Mr Arthur Hornby Lewis, who died suddenly at Eastbourne a few days after he had given £1,662 as deposit money to save the Seven Sisters cliffs from_ being sold to a building syndicate, was buried in the rose garden of his Thamea-side home, Danesfield, near Marlow. The land had been consecrated in consequence of a Danish battle having taken place on the estate many centuries a.go. The coffin was conveyed to the graveside on i a farm wagon, employees on the estate acting as bearers.
