RAILWAY FIRE BRIGADE

TAPLEY GUP CONTEST The members of the Hillside Fire Brigade competed for the Tapley Cup and other prizes last Saturday. The coupling and ladder events provided some very excellent running, and visiting firemen and friends had an enjoyable afternoon’s sport. Results:— Coupling Event.—Foreman Burgess 1, Lieutenant M'Kay 2, Captain Rusbatch 3. Also competed; Firemen Leofflor, Davies, Hall, Landretli, and Nieper. Ladder Event. —Foreman Burgess 1, Lieutenant M'Kay 2, Captain Rusbatch 3 Also competed. Firemen Leofiler, Davies, Hall, Landretli, and Nieper. Novice Event.—Fireman Nieper 1, Fireman Landretli 2, Fireman Hall 3. The following were the officials:—Judges—Foreman White, Fireman Shilton, Smellie, Smith, H. Irvine, A. Cameron; time-keepers—Captain Smeaton, ex-Superintendent A. Archer, exFireman W. Cormack; starter, Mr G. M'Hardie; field secretary, Mr A. Gallagher. At the conclusion of the events Mr T. K. Sidey, M.P., presented the Tapley Cup to Foreman Burgess, the Holler Medal to Lieutenant M’Kay, and the brigade prizes to Captain Rusbatch and Fireman Nieper.
