TRAIN DE LUXE
C-i M.P.H. IN INDIA. CALCUTTA, November 4. A trial run was given yesterday to the first Indian train de luxe, known as the Imperial Indian Mail, which will connect Calcutta with the mail boat at Bombay. Those who know both countries say that railway travelling in India is far more comfortable than in South Africa. This train is exactly modelled on the famous blue specials on the Continent, and has five coaches each with accommodation for thirty-two passengers and their servants in the first class. 1 The decorative scheme is in blue and gold, with the coat of arms of the East Indian and the Great Indian Peninsular Railways and the P. and 0. Steam Navigation Company. When running a speed of sixty-four miles per hoar was attained. Villagers all along the track during the trial run turned out to watch the express tearing along.
