JUVENILE RECHABITES
SEVENTH ANNUAL COMPETITIONS On Saturday evening a large gathering assembled in Kroon’s Hall to hear some forty competitors render their test pieces in elocution and singing. Miss Campbell judged the elocution, and Mr J. Davidson the singing, and both stated that the juveniles had attained an even higher standard than that of previous years. Prov. C.R. Sister T. Fraser occupied the chair, and Bro. A. V. Gain attended to the supervision of the competitors. The following results were announced:— ELOCUTION.
Grade I.—Vincent Gain (Rising Star Tent) 1, Margaret Smith (Hope of the Valley) 2. Grade 2.—Boys: A. Bennett (Hope of th eValley) 1, J. Cameron (Hope of •the Valley) 2 Girls; Nanna Newey (Primrose Tent) 1, Valma Gain (Rising Star) 2, Dorothy Shallish (Primrose) 3. Grade 3.; —Boys; Malcolm Yeates (Hope of Valley) 1, Fred Marks (Hope of the Valley) 2, Robert Coulter (Hope of the Valley) 3. Girls: D. Alexander (Rising Star) 1, Francis Robertson (Primrose) 2, J. Jamieson (Rising Star) 3. Grade 4.—Boys: John _ Beddow (Primrose) 1. Girls: Ellie Marks (Hope of Valley) 1, B. Jamieson (Rising Star) 2, G. Pollard (Primrose) 3. SINGING. Grade I.—Boys; Fred Marks (Hope of Valley) 1. Grade 2.—Boys: T. Bennett (Rising Star) 1, Vernon Tyrrell (Hope of Valley) 2. Girls; Ellie Marks (Hope of Valley) 1, B Jamieson -(Rising Star) 2, A. Cameron (Rising Star) 3. Duets.—Girls: B. and J. Jamieson (Rising Star) 1. Boys: Vernon Tyrrell and Fred Marks (Hope of Valley) 1.
The banner is awarded to the tent securing the highest ncrgregate marks, and ivas won by the "'sing Star Tent with 15 points. Hope of the Valley Tent secured 14 ponits, and Primrose Tent secured 6 points. It was intimated that the presentation of prizes and banner would take place ata later date, which will he duly advertised. Bro. A. H. Walkinshaw moved a hearty vote of thanks to the judges and accompanists, and the singing of God Save the King terminated an interesting and pleasant function.
